Reflection in Crystal Clear Water

Posted by Mary Rose Haldemann at 12:18 AM
I stare at my reflection in crystal clear water
A girl is what I saw curled like a ball in the corner
Murkiness surrounds her, stillness seals the room

My tears trickle in the water, looking at the girl
The girl is in peril, my heart bleeds for her
I sought to help her but nothing I could do

That evil face burned into my eyes,
He came and beat the girl, she cries
Wishing to be save from that evils hand

He strikes her once, He strikes her twice
He strikes the poor girl until shes down
Another little angel inflicted with pain

An innocent child bestowed with cruelty
Frightened, I walk off and wipe away my tears
For the little girl was a reflection of me

Time withered away the hurtful memories
Though gone is the wound that aches & bleeds
For eternity, the scar it leaves will last
